We fell in love with German Shepherds in the 1960s. Our first was purchased from a pet shop where he had outgrown
his cage. The poor thing had never touched the grass beneath his feet, climbed a stair, or been held in someone's loving
arms. I spent the next 30 days introducing him to life outside that cage. He became my shadow, had a heart as big as the sky,
and was there for me in my happy times with a smile on his face, my darker times with tears of his own and a paw on my arm,
and would step in front of me in protection if ever he sensed I was anxious. He represented to me the ideal dog....an unconditionally
loving best friend.
Though he was my first, there were many more over the years to follow. Interspersed in between the Shepherds
were Collies, Shelties, Dobermans, and Rottweilers. My family and I travelled the country with my husband's employment. From
the bluegrass hills of Kentucky to the sandy pastures of North Central Florida, we exhibited dogs on the show circuit in both
the obedience and comformation rings. We garnered a few wins and plenty more friends along the way. And we learned the other
dogs had their stong points but the German Shepherd was our strongest love.
We knew when we started out with our kennel here, we wanted to work with only the best quality dogs we could
get our hands on. It was only logical that in order to produce the best dogs that would truly represent all the qualities
the German Shepherd had to offer, we had to have a solid foundation built with the best. Otherwise, our labors of love would
be fruitless as they would provide inferior products. This labor of love has proven to be well worth the cost. We searched
the country and read the pedigrees. Having a background that included veterinary medicine, obedience training and judging,
handling in conformation rings over the country & researching pedigrees over the years, I did my homework. We started
with a female from one of the better kennels that was breeding German/Czech bloodlines and producing some really good quality
dogs that were family companions, herding dogs, and dogs that worked well in obedience and protection. These bloodlines had
what we wanted to produce the dog with a strong desire to please out of love and respect, a dog that would go all day if the
need arose and have the heart to go one more mile. And these dogs had to become a member of our family with our children,
grandchildren, horses, cats and other dogs. Cara was our foundation female on these working lines and Hoss was her companion.
After the first two litters were on the ground, raised and trained, we are very pleased with the results. Cara's mother,
Egypt, was added when Cara was taken out of the equation due to health problems following her second litter. And Egypt has
now proven that the bloodstock from which Cara was produced was a strong one upon which to build. Their aptitude for working
in obedience and on the farm with our livestock is top notch. And some of the progeny from these dogs are already making
their mark in protection and the service dog industry as well.
Our goal was to choose those dogs which would become strong building blocks in our effort to create the very
best German Shepherd Dog possible. Money was no object when we began to choose the foundation of our line...we knew that in
order to create the dream, we had to start with the best. I hope you can follow us on our journey into the future.
